Day Trip from Naples to the Amalfi Coast

Positano

This is one of those places you dream about visiting one day. It is something like my trip to St. Moritz was, a bucket list place you never though YOU would actually make it to. But there I was on my second day of this vacation, heading from Naples to the Amalfi Coast for a day trip.

I booked the trip though TripAdvisor and it is called ‘Sorrento and Amalfi Coast Independent Day Trip from Naples‘ – the cost was $132.58 CAD.

The pick up was a four minute walk from my hotel for the trip and we were off at 9am to go touring the Amalfi Coast. I was a little worried since it was a Sunday that it would be very busy traffic to get to our destinations, but I found the ride to be really pleasant. We had a 10-seater minibus (that had exceptional air conditioning) and it was myself, the driver, a couple from Argentina and another couple from Cyprus. There was lots of space, I was kept chilled and the driver was the right amount of crazy and cautious for me.

The order of the day trip went: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. There was also a stop for food where we could all have lunch along the way.

I really enjoyed that to begin the trip the driver took us through little cities to get to Sorrento instead of the highway because seeing the smaller/quaint areas was great. Each city we stopped in we had an hour to spend and do whatever we want. This was enough time for me because I researched prior to going on the tour what I’d like to see and would aim to go see that. However, I assume a lot of you came here for pictures so that’s what I’m going to give you.

Sorrento

Positano

Amalfi

Ravello

My favourite out of the four was definitely Sorrento. Although Positano was nice because of the gorgeous views of those houses/shops stacked on an incline – it was WAAAY too busy for me. Amalfi was nice in its own way and Ravello being 400m above sea level provided insane views. BUT, Sorrento is where it is at for me. I couldn’t take all the stairs to the water there like I did in Positano (my legs are sick of stairs on this damn trip) and it was still super nice there.

I hope to one day come back and just spend 4-5 days in Sorrento doing nothing except chilling on the beach. Oh, and not during the height of the tourist season in Europe. Yes, very important.

If you are short on time you should most definitely do this day trip from Naples to the Amalfi Coast. The area isn’t exactly close and it can get costly so if you can still get to see all this beauty for about $130, why not?
